What is Synchronized Skating?
Synchronized skating is a team sport in which 8 - 20 skaters perform a program together. It is judged using the same system as singles, pairs and dance. It is characterized by teamwork, speed, intricate formations and challenging step sequences. Some of the elements in synchronized skating include blocks, circles, wheels, lines, intersections, moves in the field, moves in isolation, no-hold blocks, spins and pairs moves.
Teams compete in 15 different levels from the Beginner level up to Senior. Click here for a USFSA Synchronized Skating Team Definition list.
There are many benefits to participating in a team sport, and synchronized skating is a great way for figure skaters to compete in a sport they love while enjoying all of the aspects of working with others in a team-oriented sport.

Fire Crystal Kudos
The Pre-juvenile and Open Juvenile teams traveled to Ann Arbor, Michigan (the home of synchronized skating) in early December for the Porter Synchronized Skating Classic. What fun it was to meet teams from all over the U.S. and Canada, too! A big THANK YOU to our Fire Crystals sponsors for helping make our travel possible.
All our teams did well at the 2009 Pacific Coast Sectional Championships in Broomfield, Colorado. We are very proud of all of our teams for their hard work and for a very successful season.
Our teams skated at a number of exhibitions during the year and performed in the Winter Wishes Ice Show in Fort Collins. And watch for us at more competitions in April!
